Dear Conrose Family,
As many of you know, during last season, the Executive Committee at Conrose Minor Baseball began preliminary discussions on amalgamation with the boards of Chebucto Minor Baseball, Halifax West Minor Baseball and the Halifax Mets. It was felt that this was a logical next step between these organizations that already share many services, attract players from a similar geographic region, have an already formalized amalgamated schedule, and share a common REP (competitive) program.
Following the season, an Amalgamation Committee, made up of members of each of these organizations, expanded on these initial discussions and developed a formal proposal. This proposal was presented to each Board/Executive and was approved unanimously to proceed with formal amalgamation in the upcoming 2014 season.
The Conrose Executive Committee felt strongly that an amalgamated organization will better promote and strengthen baseball within Halifax both on and off the field. With the creation of this vibrant new organization, we envision strong growth potential in both our competitive and house leagues. This clearly is in the best interest of baseball for Halifax and for our four organizations.
Conrose is an organization with a long, storied history and although the name will change, Conrose will live on within this new organization. Many of the unique traditions and events from Conrose, such as the Raylene Rankin Memorial Rookie Tournament, the Kelly Gruber baseball camps and the Closing Day carnival event have been adopted by the new organization.
The Executive of Conrose would like to take this opportunity to thank all our past and present volunteers, players and sponsors for all their support over the last 50 plus years. Conrose Minor Baseball will never be forgotten by those who played or those who supported us, and will be an important historical footnote in the history of our new organization, HALIFAX MINOR BASEBALL ASSOCIATION (HMBA).
Peter Perry, Donna Kennedy and David Rittenberg will be joining the new Executive of HMBA as representatives from the former Conrose Executive Committee.
Lastly, this amalgamation will require your support and commitment to make it successful. The new Board at HMBA will soon be calling on you to help in any way you can. We hope you will support HMBA as much as you have supported Conrose over the years and be part of OUR stronger and more successful new association.
Once again, thank you so very much for allowing and helping us bring baseball to our community and to your children.
Hope to see all of you on the ball field in 2014.
Conrose Executive Committee
